On Friday, May 1st, 2026, PrimeFab officially opened its new 100,000 square foot manufacturing facility in the Town of Midland, marking one of the most significant industrial investments Simcoe North has seen in years. The ribbon was cut, doors were opened, and a clear message was sent: Ontario is building its way forward.
The grand opening drew a strong showing of community and government support, with Mayor Bill Gordon, MP Adam Chambers, and MPP Jill Dunlop in attendance, alongside local mayors and municipal representatives from across Simcoe County. Partners and supporters from the broader construction industry were also on hand to mark the occasion. A reflection of just how much momentum is building around this investment.
Under the leadership of Mario Ribeiro and Frank Ribeiro, PrimeFab has set its sights on a challenge that touches nearly every community in the province: the shortage of affordable housing. The Midland facility positions the company to manufacture at scale, bringing prefabricated and modular building solutions to a market that desperately needs them.
Ontario and Canada are in the midst of a housing affordability crisis. Demand for homes continues to outpace supply, and construction costs show no signs of slowing. PrimeFab’s manufacturing-first model directly addresses this gap by moving key production processes off-site and into a controlled, efficient factory environment, reducing build times, cutting costs, and improving quality consistency.
The Midland facility gives PrimeFab the capacity to scale output at a pace traditional construction simply cannot match. With 100,000 square feet of production floor, the team is equipped to move from concept to component with precision, and to do it in volume.

Good Jobs Rooted in the Community
Beyond its mission to address housing, PrimeFab’s grand opening represents a vote of confidence in the Midland workforce. The facility brings skilled manufacturing jobs to a region known for its strong industrial heritage, further cementing Simcoe North as a destination for advanced manufacturing in Ontario.
MPP Jill Dunlop, who attended the opening, noted she looks forward to returning for an in-depth tour. A sign that the work being done inside those walls is worth watching closely.
“Congratulations to the PrimeFab team on the grand opening of your new facility in the Town of Midland! Such an important investment in our manufacturing sector, strengthening the local economy, supporting quality jobs, and contributing to the continued growth of the region’s industrial base.”

What Comes Next
For PrimeFab, May 1st is a beginning, not an endpoint. The team is now focused on ramping up production, building partnerships across the homebuilding supply chain, and demonstrating what Ontario Made manufacturing can achieve when it’s driven by purpose. If Ontario and Canada are going to solve the affordable housing challenge, it will take exactly this kind of investment — bold, local, and built to last.
